Inspire Design were appointed by McCarthy & Stone to undertake the concept design and planning submission of the site for a Retirement Living scheme to include 19 two bedroom apartments, 13 one bedroom apartments and 28 total car parking spaces. The final design uses horizontal and vertical elements of render, buff brick, metal and timber effect cladding to provide architectural interest and an attractive environment for the residents. A modular sized window has been arranged to create a rhythm, and vertical panels of brickwork of contrasting colour, together with sections of coloured render, give the building a vertical emphasis, which is further enforced by the supports to the balconies. The apartments are positioned away from the main façade allowing walk out terraces. It also allows a different material to be employed, which further emphasis the contemporary architecture. The scheme obtained planning and the detailed technical design is being undertaken by the Inspire team.
